my first piano recital ;)
For as long as i can remember, music has always been an important part of my life.
At age 4, i was on-stage, singing songs i learned by myself. my parents always has this ready story. at one of their office events, the master of ceremonies just gave a “clue” on who will be giving an intermission number. my parents were trying to guess and to their surprise, they just saw me grab the microphone on stage. (i was singing if you still don’t get where i’m heading at. :p )
i also love dancing. i’m sure you always see little kids going up the stage when they see their older brothers were performing. i was one of those kids (and so was my younger brother).
that was then.
i don’t sing anymore – at least not in “public”. and i’d rather not dance when the dance is limited to ballroom or folk. sorry, just not my cup of tea.
but i still LOVE music.
january this year, i decided to buy my own keyboards. nothing too fancy, just wanted a pastime. i was wanted to learn to play like david sides (see post). hehehe. i think i need to play day and night for 50 years to reach this goal. but hey, dream big, right? :p
here is my first attempt. for the “experts” out there, i would love to get your advice. but, go easy on me, ok? i’m new at this. i did take lessons when i was in grade school but didn’t really pursue it. didn’t like my teacher that much. sorry! so kids, learn everything you can while you still can ok? also, i did not like the idea of playing pieces which i really didn’t care about. i want to play songs that i LIKE.
which explains my song choice. i actually had a lot of options – from JT’s “what goes around comes around” to daniel powter’s “bad day” to daughtry’s “it’s not over”. too ambitious for a beginner like me actually.
anyway, elliot yamin’s “wait for you” was the first piano piece that i “deciphered”. so, this is the song. still has a lot of problems everywhere but i think showing it would not be too embarrassing. but hey, i’m thick-skinned. i performed a dance number once all by myself. (i was 4, i think)
